Culinary Map: From Ukrainian Traditions to American BBQ

Another day at the Sumy Summer Language Camp turned into a real gastronomic festival!

This time, our participants tried their hand at being food experts, connoisseurs of national cuisine, and true culinary guides. The main theme of the meeting was exploring traditional dishes. Our campers selected different regions and prepared captivating presentations and stories in English. The participants amazed everyone with the variety of treats they chose.

The meeting featured detailed recipes and origin stories of legendary borscht, rich Carpathian banosh with bryndza cheese, flavorful uzvar, tender Bessarabian placintas, and ancient authentic taratuta.

Of course, we didn't miss the chance to explore US culture! An American guest presented authentic American barbecue – sharing its marinating secrets – alongside a traditional pecan pie and other original American dishes and drinks that are staple features of festive parties.

During their speeches, the children shared the best cooking techniques, explained which holidays these dishes are prepared for, and revealed fascinating facts that would surely catch the attention of foreign tourists.

A special highlight was the presentation of media materials. Throughout the meeting, the camp actively discussed the projects, exchanged impressions, and practiced spoken English in a warm, friendly atmosphere. This delicious journey across the culinary map made the last month of summer truly unforgettable – and we still have plenty of exciting discoveries ahead!
